Foreword
The book HARD TO REACH, Reflections and Motivational Statements, written by the distinguished Canadian writer of Romanian origin, MIHAELA CD, published in Montreal, Ed. Globart Universum, 2023, is a literary work that pleasantly captures attention, soothes the soul, gives hope, and emphasizes the value of life.
First and foremost, I must admit that I was eager to read it, anticipating the depth of the writer’s thinking. Secondly, I was delighted that this book is bilingual, offering multiple opportunities to be read by as many readers as possible.
As she has accustomed us to her own literary style, with a concentric approach to the subject, the book is structured into 17 chapters, encompassing the presentation of the most significant human virtues. So, today, I will guide you, the reader, sprinkling your path with what I considered would captivate you, in order to provoke a dialogue with the author, with life, and with yourself.
It is a book full of teachings, messages, and aphoristic reflections, a book that magnificently adds to the author’s literary CV, being her 15th book, and her 3rd book of aphorisms.
We warmly accept the invitation of Mr. Johnny Ciatloş-Deak, Senior Editor at Globart Universum Publishing House Montreal, who shares with us the context of the book’s publication and its importance for spirituality, especially in these turbulent times.
As we witness a collective awakening of consciousness in this world of contrasts, where the balance tilts against humanity, the book aligns itself with its purpose of spiritual evolution and personal development of individuals. It provides resources, answers, and suggestions worthy of being followed, addressed to people of all ages.
After an inspiring motto carefully chosen from Charles F. Kettering and Michael Phelps, MIHAELA CD already presents her own landmarks and observations. The first invitation is: „Surpass your limits,” the ones we impose on ourselves through passive comfort, embracing „I can’t” and imprinting our entire being with our own „Preconceptions” about life, about existence, which often create the motivation for a victim mentality rather than that of a victor. We parade with „I can’t” and hide behind „I don’t want to.”
Knowledge of the past, of our „History,” of our roots, of the place we come from, is fundamental to our becoming, sprinkled with „fragments of history,” with memories that remain eternal values, regardless of time, such as love. How profound and beautifully said: „Love does not consider the era.”
Parallel to the literal message, there is the message conveyed through photographs, in a unique concept that harmoniously completes and grows in amplitude, such as: „The voice of the earth unifies roots into a blessing” or „Every handshake signifies, in fact, a small union.”
How wonderful it would be if we could instill this in children so well, who, when they are young, rejoice and fully experience this handshake, for which they can love and forgive, and later it no longer holds the same value it deserves.
Beautifully said: To unite means „foundations,” it means building bridges of communication between people, bridges that do not collapse, not walls, not division, not hatred. I respectfully note how „The Voice of the Soul,” divine protection, and the native language are existential constants for the Romanian Christian, wherever they may travel or live. In fact, we are travelers on this planet, in this life, and we should be thirsty for knowledge, for love, for kind words, for human or divine comfort.
The call to „Discover Yourself” comes rhetorically and firmly, an urging to purify all inner negativity. Stop hiding behind masks, accept your weaknesses, limitations, and blockages, the author tells us. You are their cause. With discernment, you will discover what makes you happy, who are your role models because they exist, but you must discern between the true and the false.
It urges us to find our own harmony with ourselves, with the world, and with heaven. A unified balance that we gain by learning our own lessons. The important thing is to learn! Only by learning will you discover your inner strength and replace „I can’t” with „I’ll try.” By being „good,” you can contribute, albeit small but valuable, to the „goodness of the world.” It encourages patience and the courage to follow our dreams, to see everything through the lens of human becoming, as the primordial law of nature.
The book is imbued with a strong Romanian spirit: „In the Romanian definition of the word ‘poetry,’ the name of the national poet Mihai Eminescu is carved” or „To write in your own language means to sing the longing for home.”
The form of address is direct and reaches its intended destination through the shortest route: „Think and Analyze!” It urges us to seek and find the middle ground because it is the golden path of wisdom. Let’s listen to our hearts, discover the true people around us, those with whom we can build edifices.
Constantly situated between „Dream and Desire,” we are, in fact, in search of fertile ground where they can come to life, with courage and faith.
„Color your dreams!” – MIHAELA CD wisely tells us, and I continue… „in the colors of the soul. Stay close to those with whom you resonate and who believe in you.”
MIHAELA CD tells us, „Make every day a spring!” – to which I add, „In my soul, magnolias bloom all year round. The spring of the soul is essential.” What did I want to show through these two examples? – how beautifully the book engages the reader in dialogue, guiding them on a specific path of sincere, open, and altruistic conversation, where one feels good and encounters many surprises and revelations, which I’ll let you discover on your own.
„Select and Prioritize,” it urges us to establish a correct hierarchy of values, to nourish our souls with memories, good things, and good deeds. Your own future is determined by your projects, a „journey through a labyrinth” with your own strength, a plan to follow with „perseverance, dedication, and passion.” Yes, it’s a discipline of a victor, your own, from which you should not deviate.
The author of the book invites us to reflect on time, to make it our friend, not to waste it on trivial matters.Reflections and reflexes! Reflections in the mirrors of the soul, but also reflections of efforts in results. Reflections on nature, from which we can learn, as nature has learned the lesson of survival.
Surprising comparisons: „the wounded soul – a burnt bread with a crispy crust and a soft and good core” or „tears of faith are divine blessings in the form of rain” or „although we know that in this life we are temporary, we behave as if we were the bosses of all train stations.”A beautiful plea for friendship, but also for „Small Steps,” steady steps towards optimism and facing difficulties, which are easier to bear together. Respect, esteem, goodness, and beauty are promoted.
Often in today’s society, we witness inverted or false scales of values. Courage and confidence are confused with audacity and arrogance, common sense with weakness, and a false understanding of freedom allows one to do whatever they want without any moral reference.Respect for oneself and others is presented as „a system of values that is instilled in us from childhood.” Only by being realistic, accepting your qualities, but especially your flaws, can you succeed. It encourages us to be better and to learn the importance of self-control!
The author advocates for optimism supported by our own strengths. She speaks to us about tolerance, behavior, investing in good things, but especially in spiritual matters. She promotes positive thinking, opting for positivism, creativity, and positive emotions, in which your attitude towards others matters the most, as you can be a good example yourself.
What surprises and delights me is the flavor with which the book is read, detaching you completely from the mundane reality and immersing you in a world conceived according to different axiological frameworks, in which you can anchor yourself, breathe, and truly be free, proving that you can be a beneficial Light for yourself and others, a light that brings smiles and hope to the faces of others.
Another concept used in the book is the „inner voice” that we should take into account, which can only be heard if we create inner silence. It comes to our aid as an instinct for self-preservation, a blessed intuition, a response of conscience.But the supreme value of human virtues is Love! „Love and rejoice!” – MIHAELA CD tells us. Time and love cannot be bought with money! She urges us to keep our souls pure, to live life beautifully and dignified, as a divine and unique gift.The book concludes with the wise thoughts of Walter Elias and Confucius.The title is suggestive, HARD TO REACH, as the barriers we often raise within ourselves are hard to overcome, and the book offers us the key to overcoming and surpassing these seen or unseen, known or unknown barriers with dignity and perseverance.
A profound book that you stop and read today, then want to reread. A book in which you find yourself and reinvent yourself. A universe of experiences, thoughts, feelings, emotions, contemplations, filtered through the lens of your own life and literary self.
The book comes in a context where today, we confront a confused and distorted world order, where lies are rewarded, in a world full of aggression and invaded by fake news and fears, a permissive world where anything is possible, where everyone chooses their own values and offers their own answers, losing the direction in which they are going. In the generalized chaos, it is hard to gather yourself, to be your unique self, to enjoy the life given by God.
As you go through the book, you feel that you have completed a beautiful personal development course, which is a continuous process that involves self-evaluation, change, goals to be achieved, determination, inspiration, vision, initiative, and motivation, and it requires being together so that you can learn to build yourself according to the core values of humanity. It is a never-ending journey throughout life, full of self-discovery and experiences.
The book, like a guide, accompanies you, but not just any guide, but one that originates from the heart for the soul. It is an exceptional artistic achievement, carefully and beautifully designed from an aesthetic perspective, where words intertwine with visuals in an artistic manner, evoking emotions, creating moods, and promoting humanity. It is a guide through which each person charts their own path in the wise world to which the author invites us.
We witness a sharing of her life experience, which she lives with dignity in faith and love, a wisdom that is gained by living in the real dimensions of today’s time, in a connection both horizontally with the world, regardless of where she lives, and vertically in connection with God. It is a valuable literary endeavor that advocates for the freedom of the spirit, for belief in oneself and in God, for living a beautiful life as dictated by one’s own conscience.
After reading the book, you feel the soul’s metamorphoses and experience the state of peace and harmony it transmits to you.Through this book, which completes a round number, MIHAELA CD becomes a confessant of the Romanian people, of creation, and of the fundamental values of this world, fully fulfilling her mission as a writer.
