THE FRUITS FROM THE TREE OF LIFE
„HARD TO REACH” is the title of the new book that is part of the vast and diverse literary creation of writer Mihaela CD, from which I immediately grasped the notion that „Many things in life seem hard to reach, but in reality, the greatest obstacles are the ones we impose on ourselves.”
Throughout the reading, I constantly referred to the title, sometimes interpreting it as a question, other times as an answer, and at the end of the reading, I turned it into an echo. Reflecting on what I read, on what I gathered between the covers of this book of reflections and motivational statements, the reading gave me the image of a tree that I named the tree of life. This tree is located in the garden of the author Mihaela CD’s literary creations, a garden with many fruitful trees, among which it was planted and nurtured with heartfelt dedication until it bore fruits that every reader can pick and nourish themselves with on their life’s journey.
The book is structured into 17 chapters, like interconnected links, well-defined through written words and evocative photographs, images that together serve a noble purpose: to help every reader understand that the journey of life is filled with a diversity of emotions, experiences, and behavioral attitudes, some of which are surmountable, while others are „hard to reach.” However, the author tells us that it is not impossible if we adhere to the four mottos that appear on the back cover of the book: „Be ambitious, Never give up, Believe in yourself, Be persistent!”
The book itself serves as a guide, through the author’s wise words that emanate from her soul, reaching the souls of people, we who are all travelers in life.
The chapter titled „PRECONCEPTIONS” opens the reading with an image that supports the idea of embarking on a journey against a backdrop of mystery, of the unknown, in a setting that expresses vastness. The boat moving forward symbolizes the journey. For those lacking courage, lacking trust in themselves, they receive the advice to „Erase from your mind: I can’t!” and „Have confidence in yourself! … Keep going, don’t stop!” This is an encouragement to remain consistent until reaching one’s goals and desires.
Throughout the entire book, the author emphasizes the diversity of situations that each person must find solutions for. Solutions exist, but as the owners of our own lives, we must take an interest, utilizing our innate qualities and those acquired through study and hard work, for nothing comes from nothing. „Don’t rely on what others say, create your own opinion by putting your own strengths into play and trying.”
It is worth noting and appreciating the details in approaching life’s issues, the author’s desire to touch upon various sensitive chords of the human soul, with the aim of helping readers understand and experience the state of being in control of their lives and decisions. „Don’t wait for happiness to come to you, go and meet it!”
Throughout the reading, the author demonstrates a skillful psychological approach, not only in this literary work but also in others. Each reader, at the moment of reading, can consider themselves as the main character in the book of their own life: „Each person carries their own time on their shoulders, not someone else’s!” For every thought that someone who has not succeeded or has tried and „failed” may have, the author provides an answer: „There is no ‘I can’t!’ There is only ‘I don’t want to!'”
Like a film, the reconstruction of family periods unfolds through memories, the history linked to each person’s origins. These reflections are conveyed through words and images, photographs.”Each photograph is a piece of history”, each inscription shows where we come from: ‘to write in your own language means to sing the longing for home,’ writes the author Mihaela CD. We cannot create an imaginary bridge between generations without hearing the voice of an elder, seeing photographs, reading about family history, the history of the place where we were born.
A piece of advice, an encouragement equivalent to a page of the Bible, is found in this book, and it is the chapter: KNOW YOUR HISTORY. ‘The history written by our parents and grandparents cannot be found in any book, so let them tell it to you while they are still alive,’ because in life, ‘the voice of the earth unifies the roots in blessings.’ I told myself, a simple reader, that if you manage to embrace the history of your existence, understanding that ‘Every day, new pages written with the pen of time’s aura are added to the register of history,’ then you can say that you are getting closer to what is ‘hard to reach.’
An interesting, educational book that encourages meditation and has a literary structure that is not easy to achieve! That’s why I consider it a book like a tree of life, with bittersweet but necessary fruits. I must mention that while reading, after each chapter, I would say to myself: What beautiful aphorisms, how powerful is the iridium at the tip of the pen that wrote them!
‘Look deep into the mirror of your soul!’ that’s the only way the author tells us we can find out ‘who truly hides behind the mask you wear. Take off all the masks, even if it hurts! Discover yourself.’
DISCOVER YOURSELF is another chapter that explains to the traveler through life how important it is to know who you are because ‘You can deceive everyone, but you can’t deceive your conscience or God.’ By knowing ourselves, we establish an inner balance between who we are, what power we have in relation to what we want to be.
STUDY, all the carefully chosen aphorisms and images by the author of the book tell us. And in this chapter, photography supports the word. The image of the facade of a building, ingeniously constructed from books arranged in such a way that by looking, you see the connection between word and image, ‘The future is always built on the foundation of knowledge (science),’ and you deduce that the building is a library, about which the author tells us, ‘The library is the place thanks to which the little ones have become GREAT,’ because only ‘Knowledge enlightens, and through diligent work, you can become whoever you want to be,’ provided you are ‘determined.’ It is worth noting that the poet Mihaela CD’s address is the library, ‘The library is the place where the poet attains immortality.’ What a sacred place the library is… ‘Life unfolds like a movie, whether you participate or not, it continues with or without you.’
But you, reader, THINK/ANALYZE, ‘Do something to be proud of every day!’ and ‘The decision to be happy belongs to you because it comes from within. You are the one who decides that!’ Reading this special book, including this chapter, made me go back to moments in life when I reflected, analyzed, but now I could hear the author’s voice, telling me what she said to other readers, ‘Listen to your instincts, they tell you when something is not right. Learn to recognize them.’ I said aloud, ‘Hard to reach.’
Chapter six is a gateway to DREAMS AND DESIRES. It is a challenging lesson to teach and explain to readers the stages of metamorphosis of a dream, from soaring heights to undefined peaks, to the stage of „desire” and its materialization. „Your dreams should be for the future, not the past!” The author’s pedagogical qualities have made this chapter a life lesson necessary for everyone, but especially for young people, increasing their enthusiasm towards their desires. „Dream as high as you want, don’t let anyone limit you. It’s your dream!” At the same time, through statements, the author brings to the forefront undeniable teachings and realities regarding the necessities that lead to the realization of the flight from dream to fulfilled desire. It is possible, „If you have the courage to follow the path of your dream, your dream will come true!” The author provides a guide to achieving dreams and „hard-to-reach” desires through courage and self-belief. „Beyond the door in front of you lies another world. Discover it by opening the door!”
But for what you will find in life: SELECT – PRIORITIZE. As a protector of human values, the author approaches the traveler through life, asking, „Is it hard for you to choose?” – first, „Find out what is most important to you.” These are pieces of advice to become a winner. The qualities of the soul make the impossible possible in order to „reach what is hard to reach.” I believe that the most challenging point to reach, like in a mountaineer’s ascent, is the soul, through the qualities we give it, through our actions, such as „Never hurt a child’s heart. Children have angelic souls!” „Always be human, don’t change your behavior based on material well-being.” „Discard everything that is useless and harmful, keep moral values, memories, friends, not things burdened with negative memories.” „The difference between the heart and the soul: the heart dies, the soul never does!”
And in the chapter titled „PLAN” , the album with photographs and images complements the statements, strengthening the power of conveying motivational content. In life, from all points of view, order and planning are just as important as the desire to fulfill dreams: „Your dreams have become projects, but projects need to be accomplished in order to become reality”… nothing is achieved ”without work.” The image of an exceptional building through project and project execution supports, like the other photographs in this chapter, the idea that it is possible when „Planning will provide you with an organized image of the things you need to do and a better organization in achieving them”. Planning is yet another engine that lifts you towards the realization of your uplifting projects.
„FOLLOW THE PLAN” is the successor chapter to the „PLAN” chapter and is like a budget attached to the project for its fulfillment. The requirements are human values, not material ones. The author of the book highlights the advice and life lessons from her own experience, which are very important, impressing with the necessary details in the project process. „Perseverance is the main factor of success!” Each chapter not only distinguishes the advice on how each individual should use their qualities but also subtly or directly presents many of the human traps and obstacles that make your path difficult and your desired goal ”hard to reach”. „The more successful you are, the more enemies you will have,” and „The smarter you are, the harder it will be to find your place.”
Not coincidentally, the following chapter is titled „DIFFICULTIES” which exemplifies the title of the book and also shows the possibilities through which you can overcome them. Each chapter, taken as a stage of life, supports and complements the other chapter, a segment of life for the realization of desires, the plan for achieving the goal, even if it is or seems „hard to reach.” The help in the difficulties that you cannot overcome primarily comes from prayer to God, as suggested in this book, and through the image of a praying girl, because „God holds the whole world in His hands!” Another help comes from a friend, a true friend, not one who wears a mask… „The difficulties of life seem easier when shared with friends.” But life also brings people with different masks, treacherous friends. „Betrayal is the greatest arrow the heart can receive.” False people hidden beneath the guise of a good person who, in reality, are traitors. „Venom, even if wrapped in honey, still kills.” A warning to avoid difficulties is to focus on your own qualities. Prudence, taking responsibility for your actions, knowing how to express gratitude and ask for forgiveness when you make mistakes, are necessary on the path that should not be interrupted, the path towards achieving your goals in life, even if „The tears of suffering leave scars in the soul,” „Stay positive and move forward!” with SMALL BUR SURE STEPS.
Another chapter, like a wagon attached to the train for its composition in the journey through life. A chapter full of ways to travel the road, with examples, its beauty in philosophy and the skill of words used, with an encouraging tone, but also emphasizing the necessity of prudence. „The world is cruel, but you must be capable of making your way through the stones that the world throws at you.” Rather, it means making full use of everything learned in the other stages of life, like chess pieces, each in its rightful place and at the right time, demonstrating that life is a game of intelligence. „Success is always hidden among trials.” „Sometimes the journey is more interesting and beautiful than the destination!” „”Every step you take brings you closer to a brilliant future,” brings you closer to what is hard to achieve. For that,” it doesn’t matter the size of the step, but the power of will, ambition, and perseverance.” The beautiful teachings of the distinguished author are presented with delicacy, elegance in words. Read them, observe them, meditate on them. For example: ‘Let us not forget that even the sunset can have wonderful colors.’ I looked at the photograph and for a moment I was in a state of ecstasy, surrounded by nature.
‘RESPECT AND ESTEEM’ is the chapter in which I, as a reader, felt the presence of the author much closer to me, conveying what lies within the soul, the mind, shaping the depth of one’s being in relation to the external world and those around. ‘Our system of values is the foundation of self-esteem and respect for others.’ ‘Respect for others, as well as our entire system of values, is instilled in us since childhood.’ The importance of the ‘seven years at home’ in our development as human beings among others in the journey through life is well known. ‘Good manners always make a good home with respect.’ It is important to know yourself, to have a real measure of your values. These will help you; you will need them continuously on your journey. ‘Accept your qualities and flaws to have a realistic image of yourself.’
The author does not leave the reader after delving into the soul; her presence is necessary in shaping the individual as seen from the outside. The four chapters: ‘AVOID NEGATIVITY / ATTRACT POSITIVITY / SMILE / LOVE’ form a true toolbox with elements that contribute to achieving joy and contentment, considering that ‘Elegance in behavior is the most expensive attire that never goes out of fashion,’ and which cannot be bought. As the author often mentions, human values cannot be bought; we acquire them by birth and continuous study. ‘Turn what you have into paradise and surround yourself with beauty.’ ‘To avoid negativity, do not use sentences that start with NO.’ It is worth reflecting on because ‘sometimes we are prisoners of our own negativity,’ surrounding ourselves with an imaginary net that hinders our thinking and progress towards the set destination. By removing negativity, it is necessary to attract positivity, primarily by ‘surrounding yourself only with positive people’ and ‘when everything seems gray around you, create light, be a ray of sunshine for others.’ And do not forget the message of the next chapter: SMILE.
The value of a smile received or given should not be underestimated. ‘Never underestimate the power of a smile and a compliment.’ A smile is like a brooch with rubies, worn on the lapel of the ‘most expensive attire,’ which is ‘Elegance in behavior,’ the behavior of all people. ‘SMILE EVERY DAY!’ ‘Life is not just work and success; life also means love,’ and a smile is a bond between loving souls. ‘Open the gate of your heart,’ and love will come. ‘The definition of coexistence as a couple is learned on the go, case by case; each couple has its own definition,’ because ‘without love, we would be nothing, without love, the sun wouldn’t rise, and birds wouldn’t chirp. Enjoy it! Love and give smiles, kindness, and love without expecting anything in return! Sometimes we receive love where we least expect it!’
ENJOY LIFE! That’s what the author tells us in writing, and at the same time warns us: ‘Do not forget: Maintain a balance in everything: Love, Work, Live, Dream, Give, Help. Enjoy everything!’ ”Enjoy everything that surrounds you, every flower, and every moment together with your loved ones.” I have enjoyed the fruits of this book like well-ripened fruits on the tree of life.Reading has created the framework for me to imagine how beautiful life, the world, and the planet would be if as many fruitful trees were planted, similar to those cultivated in the vast garden of writing, named MIHAELA CD.
