Foreword

The volume of reflections and motivational statements „Questions for later – Întrebări pentru mai târziu,” published this year by Globart Universum Publishing House in Montreal, continues the series of aphorism books authored by Mihaela CD: „Born to be(Alt)cineva (Born to be Someone (else)),” „Sometimes Elephants are Flying,” and „Hard to Reach.” In this new volume, designed once again in bilingual English-Romanian format, we rediscover the author’s same interest in the word that constructs, in the thoughts that bring light to the souls and minds of readers. „Questions for Later” is a book of soul healing, of revitalizing the wellspring of wisdom present within each of us. It provides answers to key questions of great interest and relevance. Touching upon a wide variety of topics borrowed from real life, the musings reflect the author’s unique responses to life’s big questions.

„Reading is the happiness of synapses, the engine of curiosity, the rest of thought, the celebration of conversation, the liturgy of memory, and the purifying ritual of a thirsty mind seeking truth.” – Mihail Neamțu writes in „Eros, logos, agape: Love in the Smartphone Era” (Bucharest, Marile Cărți Publishing House, 2023, p. 121). This is precisely the role of the present book. Mihaela CD offers readers a volume of aphorisms that arouse curiosity, make you ponder, and awe you with their simplicity, truth, depth, and spiritual delicacy. It should be noted that „Questions for Later” provides answers to daily concerns while also proposing philosophical and moral remedies for the soul and behavioral bruises specific to today’s world.

Naturally, the author has a special affinity for everything related to the allure of philosophy and places great importance on universal human curiosity, which underlies the birth of philosophy and all discoveries in science and human practice. Curiosity arose from the need to understand how the world works and from the urgency to unravel the great mysteries of the surrounding world and the inner universe of the human being. Curiosity has helped people penetrate the core of things and embark on the search for the meaning of life.

„Fascination, surprise, curiosity are part of the beauty of discovery,” writes Mihaela CD in the first chapter of the volume: „Be Curious.” Interrogations have always stimulated intelligence and consistently opposed foolishness. Therefore, the second chapter of the book is dedicated to intelligence. „Be Smart” urges the author, who trusts in people’s ability to beneficially and altruistically harness their minds. A strong and intelligent person, believes the writer, is inherently kind-hearted and naturally practices altruism, both for personal well-being and for the good of others. In the third chapter, „Learn to Care,” the author explores precisely this idea. And in the fourth part of the book titled „Ask Questions,” the writer naturally returns to the aphoristic exposés from the first chapter of the book and enhances them with new valences and interrogative aspects.

 Intelligence, kindness, and compassion transform a person, and these are frequently encountered themes for meditation in the book. The same role is held by love, considered the engine of life. Love is what shapes the heart of each one of us. It collaborates with happiness, joy, gentleness, patience, truth, light, willpower, and respect, which give meaning to each person’s life. The need to relate to them, the efforts to reach the level of these lofty aspirations, represent a constant throughout the history of humanity.

Starting with the Greek philosophers, such as Plato, people have tried to define love and find solid methods of identification and preservation. In the dialogues „On Love” or in „The Symposium,” Plato always opted for the divine form of love. Mihaela CD follows the same procedure when she writes, „The first lesson you learn is the lesson of love. Everything works according to the law of love, even nature.”

At the top of the axiological pyramid, on the same level as love, the writer places faith, respect, politeness, patience, diligence, courage, empathy, trust, and other values that contribute irreversibly to the formation of one’s personality and the refinement of both ordinary and exceptional souls. Among the latter, Mrs. Mihaela CD stands out with intellectual elegance and real talent. By choosing to enrich her life through the practice of positive thinking, the author of the aphorisms demonstrates her trust in the generative and healing power of the written or spoken word. By asking important existential questions, the writer formulates her answers in the form of profound and sensitive reflections. „Plans are seeds of dreams planted in the soil of the present to bloom in the future,” concludes the writer towards the end of the volume.

In the 17 chapters of the book, Mihaela CD offers us a fluid and engaging read, complemented by the great attractiveness of the illustrations accompanying the author’s thoughts. Additionally, the inclusion of the English versions gives the volume an added authenticity and value.

The aphorisms in „Questions for Later” knock on the door of readers’ souls and are gentle invitations to meditation and change. They are fragments of wisdom that can be read every day, like a spiritual renewal calendar, to which you return when you need confirmation or when you are in search of comforting words. We are talking about a book that you leave on your nightstand and open when you need an unseen supporter, someone who can be with you in competitions with yourself and in the battle with life’s challenges. In conclusion, the fourth volume of motivational statements conceived by Mrs. Mihaela CD is timeless and versatile because it addresses a wide range of readers. I hope that the author will continue to climb the mountain of creation with the same confidence. May her talent always guide her to new literary destinations, and may her flight into the realm of the muses be smooth, fruitful, and watched over by divine grace.

The implementation of the „6 Books for Romania – 2023” project has begun. The aim of the project is to donate a significant number of books to libraries in Romania. As we previously mentioned, the demand is very high, but libraries lack the necessary funds.
